about

Arriving with the cold weather in MOMO.'s home country of Brazil, “Till the End of Summer Time” is a story of disillusioned love marked by the change of seasons. And though it doesn’t quite align with the season here in the States (or in Lisbon, where the artist now resides), the song is timely in that it speaks to the disillusionment and feeling of isolation we’ve all experienced in recent months and weeks.

"'Till the End of Summer Time' is musically inspired by jazz standards from composers such as Gershwin and Irving Berlin, and from bossa nova composers like Tom Jobim," MOMO. says. "The lyrics tell a disillusioned love story from the first encounter to the last goodbye." The title harkens back to the 1945 pop song "Till the End of Time," which was recorded by Perry Como, Doris Day, and many other artists of the time and eventually inspired a film of the same name.

This is the third single released after MOMO.’s sixth full-length album, I Was Told to Be Quiet, came out last Fall. The track will also be included on his forthcoming EP which will feature collaborations from indie artists such as Alex Siegel (Amo Amo) and Helio Flanders (Vanguart). "Till the End of Summer Time" was recorded by MOMO. in his home in Lisbon, and mixed by L.A. producer Tom Biller (Karen O, Elliott Smith, Kate Nash), who has become a frequent collaborator since the two worked together on I Was Told.

lyrics

Gray was the color of that night
Blue the color of your eyes
Nothing left
Warm smile
Thin hands
You seemed so delicate
You asked my name
I gave my heart

Mother
Mother
Drive this ordinary man
He ain’t no sinner
Just a pure bright soul

Father
Father
Make the stars illuminate his world
Spring is over
Tulips in the backyard gone

And I’ll kiss her till the end
And I’ll miss her till the end
And I’ll kiss her till the end
Of summer time
